Basic Cementing and Chemicals

Discover the pinnacle of tailored excellence with ATI's Oil and Gas Customized Training Program, meticulously crafted to elevate industry professionals to new heights of expertise. Our program caters to the unique needs and challenges of the oil and gas sector, offering a comprehensive curriculum that delves deep into essential modules.

Basic Cementing and Chemicals

This course provides a fundamental understanding of oilfield cementing operations and the chemicals used in cement slurry design. Participants will learn about cement types, additives, slurry properties, placement techniques, and common cementing challenges in drilling and well completion. Designed for engineers, supervisors, and technical personnel seeking practical knowledge of cementing materials and field applications in upstream oil & gas operations.

Oilfield Stimulation 101

Oilfield Stimulation 101 provides a foundational overview of well stimulation techniques used to enhance hydrocarbon production. The course covers matrix acidizing, hydraulic fracturing basics, stimulation chemicals, formation damage, fluid design, and field execution practices. Participants will gain practical insight into how stimulation treatments improve reservoir performance, increase well productivity, and extend field life. Ideal for engineers, field supervisors, and technical professionals entering upstream oil & gas operations.

Lessons

Primary Cementing

Primary cementing is the process of placing cement slurry between the casing and the formation during well construction to establish a durable hydraulic seal. It is one of the most critical steps in drilling and completing a well because it ensures zonal isolation and provides structural integrity.

Bulk Plant

A bulk plant is a specialized facility used for the storage, blending, and handling of dry cement and additives used in oilfield cementing operations. Bulk plants ensure that the cementing crew receives the correct quantities and blends of materials needed for primary and remedial cementing jobs. They play a crucial role in maintaining product quality, operational efficiency, and job readiness.

Casing Hardware

Casing hardware refers to the specialized mechanical components installed along the casing string to ensure effective cement placement, proper wellbore isolation, and secure casing deployment. These tools help center the casing, control fluid flow, support cementing operations, and improve the overall success of both primary and remedial cementing jobs.

Mixing Theory

Mixing theory in oilfield cementing refers to the principles and processes involved in preparing a homogeneous and properly conditioned cement slurry before it is pumped into the well. Effective mixing ensures that the slurry’s density, viscosity, additive distribution, and overall performance meet the design requirements for successful primary or remedial cementing. Mixing theory combines fluid mechanics, material blending, and equipment operation to produce a consistent, pumpable slurry that sets and performs as expected in downhole conditions.

Density

In oilfield cementing, density refers to the mass per unit volume of a cement slurry, typically measured in pounds per gallon (lb/gal or ppg) or kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³). Slurry density is one of the most critical design and operational parameters because it directly affects wellbore stability, hydrostatic pressure, displacement efficiency, and overall cementing success.

Plug Cementing

Cement plugs are specialized cement barriers used in wellbore operations to provide temporary or permanent isolation of specific zones or sections of a well. They are widely used in both primary and remedial cementing operations and serve as a critical tool for maintaining well control, performing abandonment operations, or preparing for additional casing strings.

Mud Removal

Mud removal refers to the process of displacing drilling fluid (mud) from the wellbore before placing cement during primary or remedial cementing operations. Proper mud removal is critical to achieving a strong, uniform cement bond between the casing and formation, ensuring wellbore integrity and effective zonal isolation.
